I am still working on my dichotomous duo character project that was assigned to us 2 weeks ago. As mentioned in the previous blog, my character dichotomy are a light-hearted Jester and a stoic female knight. This idea was approved by my lecturers during last week’s idea pitch and I am glad that I have persisted with this idea. Additionally, to further my understanding of the medieval culture I visited Warrick castle last weekend, to which I recommend everyone visit at least once in their lives.
This time round I was able to get some feedback from Heather my, life drawing teacher. She gave me some useful suggestions on how I can improve the designs for the characters, such as keeping the female knight looking stronger but still withholding some feminine qualities.
As character design is a career I want to follow, I paid extra attention to the topology of the characters. The human anatomy does not have jagged edges, but instead flows, which was my aims for the 3d models. After I felt I had completed a particular section, I asked for feedback and so on until I was able to achieve the desirable results. Next I moved onto hair modelling, which wasn’t too challenging even though it was my first occasion doing this. |
