This week we were tasked to come up with a sentry gun that would track the player’s movements and fire toward the play. As stated before, the gun can be designed in any fashion as we want, but must be modelled within 5,000 triangles, which is pretty reasonable if you ask me. I began the project with a few silhouettes, which turned into thousands by the point I am at now, but it was very fun to explore my creative side once again (no harm in being creative is there). At this point in time I am still concepting and don’t have a solid final idea that I am going down, however, I have a direction that I want to go down and that is the idea of a futuristic sentry gun (always cool).
On another note Heather’s life drawing lesson this week was pretty productive if I must say so myself. This session I conjured up the courage to use paints for the final study. It was enjoyable experience e to return to paint after not using it for so long, yet I must admit I definitely need more practice- as you can probably tell from the painting. The composition actually took two life drawing sessions to complete as it was A1 sized and I underestimated the speed at which time travelled during the final pose. The painting does have some interesting features, however next time I paint I will block in the various shapes as opposed to getting bogged down by detail. However, I knew that this would be a milestone composition and I am glad that I attempted to paint for the first time in years.
