Week 16 was the 2nd week into the project and we had successfully designed the layouts of our container city idea. Our Idea, as stated in the last post was to create a retro- sci-fi styled space ship level. It was up to me to create the Cryo room, engine room and the junction in the level. I created a number of white box variations, and when I was completed I exported the meshes into unreal engine 4.
When I felt I had achieved what I wanted to create- I had a bit of fun and played around with the matinee animation slider. I was able to create this elevator which operates when the player is in close proximity to the lift floor- pretty cool right??
We had gotten so caught up with the idea of claustrophobic sci-fi corridors that we completely forgot the premise of the project- which was to create a small section of a container city. Our ambition had led us off the rails quite a bit. Fortunately, mike liked our assets and advised us to try an incorporate our assets with shipping crates. I am grateful that we had this feedback as it had certainly enlightened me into understanding how vital the brief is.
After a small cry, I began thinking of new ideas in which we could recycle our original designs in a container city. After spending the night watching ‘Futurama’- I was able to come up with the idea of creating ‘Moonland’ a fun theme park on a distant planet.
